What is Wellness?
Wellness involves a holistic approach to health and well-being that views many aspects of life as contributing to how “well” you are. As defined by the National Wellness Institute, wellness includes six dimensions:
The National Wellness Institute defines wellness as
“an active process through which people become aware of, and make choices toward, a more successful existence.
Wellness is a conscious, self-directed and evolving process of achieving full potential.
Wellness is multidimensional and holistic, encompassing lifestyle, mental and spiritual well-being, and the environment.
Tending to the dimensions of wellness proactively and with regularity is important for living a fulfilling, healthy, and happy life. If you’re familiar with Brene Brown’s work on how to live a whole-hearted life, prioritizing wellness is an integral and important part of living whole-heartedly.
